High Density Housing / Commercial - Addition / Alteration - Interior alteration to install new electromagnetic devices (six) in the south stairwell (stairwell #2) in this existing 6-storey mixed use residential/commercial building. Electromagnetic locks will release after 15 seconds or immediately upon Fire Alarm activation. Cross over floor remain on 4th floor and will have manual pull station installed on the stairwell side. ******THIS PERMIT HAS BEEN ISSUED UNDER THE REQUIREMENTS OF VBBL 2019 AND REVIEWED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC CRISIS. ******** Rev. #1 - C. Fong - Dec 14, 2021. - Card reader will be replaced with a key switch on stairwell #2. The key switch is not a secondary locking device but only to allow staff to bypass the alarm and access the floor areas from stairwell #2. Electromagnetic locking devices will continue to function without requiring keys, special devices or specialized knowledge of the door-opening mechanism. Building Review Branch Notes: 1. Building Permit for IA-2021-00199. 2. Sch-A & Arch. B are submitted. 3. Installation must be in conformance with bulletin 2020-009. 4. Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services require the sequence of operation and testing measures for electromagnetic locks to be included the Fire Safety Plan. 5. Proposed electromagnetic locks to comply with Article 3.4.6.16.
