- two circuits from the main panel in the basement to both the indoor and outdoor unit of the heat pump system. I started the work by removing the panel cover and planing out how I would enter the wire into the panel and how I was going to run the wire. I decided entering the wire into the left hand side of the panel would be ideal as my breakers would be located near the connector and there was wood blocking running up the wall for mechanical protection. With a plan in mind I ran the wire between the panel and units using the floor joists and staples. With the circuits ran and stapled I terminated both circuits onto the breakers. Both breakers are 30A as required by the manufacturer. I was then able to install the safety disconnect and surge protector outside near the outdoor unit.
