(Existing addition on back of home was built in the 1970's on a concrete strip foundation. The addition has settled to the point where it currently has a 2% slope away from the house. The structural engineer recommends underpinning to create a foundation at least 4 ft below grade to prevent further settlement. A sequence of 3 ft wide holes, seperated by 8 ft of undisturbed soil will be prepared and filled with concrete. The top 2 ft of the concrete filled hole is usually packed with non-shrink grout.)
